George Fox University is in search of a Dean for Intercultural Life who will serve as part of the Student Life leadership team and provide strategic vision and direction for student intercultural programming, with a particular emphasis on ethnically diverse and underrepresented students. About the Job: The Dean for Intercultural Life is pivotal in fostering an inclusive and supportive environment within the Christ-centered values framework at the university. This position entails leading a team to coordinate events promoting intercultural identity, collaborating with key stakeholders to support various student demographics, and cultivating partnerships to ensure all students thrive. With a mission-driven focus, the Dean will develop and implement strategies for supporting students of color, first-generation college students, commuters, and veterans, while upholding the institution's commitment to diversity and inclusion. The ideal candidate will demonstrate compassionate leadership, effective communication, and a dedication to serving as a Christian role model while maintaining a working knowledge of best practices in the areas of student belonging and inclusive excellence within a Christ-centered context. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: With understanding, integrity, and care - supervise a team of professional staff and interns responsible for the coordination and implementation of various events that advance intercultural identity across campus. (45%) As a compassionate, engaged, and effective leader - cultivate collaborative relationships with on-campus and community partners. (20%) As a dedicated, humble, and trustworthy leader - develop, implement, and operationalize a Christ-centered George Fox missional vision and strategy for the care and support of student populations that include, but are not limited to students of color, first generation college students, commuters, and veterans. (35%) Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service. By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role. Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people. A day in the life of this position: The Dean for Intercultural Life conducts one-on-one and group meetings with three (3) supervisees: the First Generation Student Success Coordinator, Coordinator of Multicultural Programs, and Associate Dean of Students/Director of Commuter Life. Additionally, the Dean supervises IRC Interns and Mosaic Scholars to provide support and work collaboratively to develop and implement DEI rich student facing programming, events, and intern/Mosaic Scholar retreats. This role works with the Associate VP for Inclusive Excellence, and interdepartmentally to create DEI informed programming and training for students and student leaders. The Dean for Intercultural Life also serves on hiring and planning committees as needed. We're looking for candidates who have: A Master's Degree required in Higher Education, Student Development or other related field. Strong computer skills and excellent organizational skills. The ability to manage a number of different tasks concurrently. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to build networks. An evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the institution's goals, including signed agreement with GFU Statement of Faith and Community Lifestyle Statement and being in living agreement with the same. A commitment to an inclusive environment that values diversity, engages global concerns and connects culturally. A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith. Preference will be given to those who have the following attributes: A Masters Degree in Higher Education, Student Development or other related field. Spanish language proficiency.
